Today we close our celebration of 31 notable WMGA members, past and present, in honor of Women’s History month, with Cheryl Brayman of North Shore CC. Cheryl might have picked up golf when she was 40, but her competitive spirit has made her a winner in her 30-year-plus association with the WMGA. Scrolling through photos of North Shore CC, Long Island Golf Illustrated, and WMGA Griscom Cup teams, Cheryl has been a constant presence. She has also teamed up with other members to win the Better Ball “A” Championship in 2010, the Mackie in 2020 and the Sis Choate five times between 2005 and 2021. In individual play, Cheryl’s name has been engraved on the Match Play Championship trophy twice and the Senior Championship trophy five times between 2002 and 2022. It’s no wonder that she has been the WMGA’s Player of the Year in 2005, 2010 and 2018. Throughout the years, in addition to winning WLIGA events, Cheryl has qualified for the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur multiple times. Finally, her dedication to golf is evident in her volunteerism, as Cheryl has served on the Board as LI District Chair for Team Matches, LI Sites Chair and two terms as President. When Cheryl’s in the field, never count her out!
We hope you enjoyed this series, and we can’t wait to highlight even more of our members and their accomplishments in 2025!
